IMAGINE ROTARY

2022 - 2023

Tanglaw at Tiwala: Promoting Safe Spaces in Schools

Tanglaw at Tiwala is the Rotaract Club of Tacloban's youth peacebuilding and anti-bullying initiative, designed to promote safe, inclusive, and compassionate learning environments for children. Through interactive activities, discussions, and values formation, the project empowers young learners to recognize bullying, practice kindness, and foster respect for one another.

Implemented at Barayong Elementary School, Palo, Leyte, the program featured rapport-building activities, reflections, positive affirmations, and collaborative exercises that encouraged empathy and mutual understanding. As one of the club's early peacebuilding initiatives, Tanglaw at Tiwala reflects the belief that creating safer schools begins with educating children to lead with kindness, compassion, and respect.

#BatangMalaya campaign

#BatangMalaya a flagship child protection and advocacy initiative, dedicated to raising awareness on child labor and promoting every child's right to education, safety, and a nurturing environment. Through partnerships with fellow Rotaract clubs, government agencies, and community organizations, the project educates the public on child protection while encouraging collective action against child exploitation.

Launched in celebration of Philippine Independence Day, #BatangMalaya symbolizes the shared commitment to free children from exploitation and provide opportunities for them to learn, grow, and thrive. By fostering awareness, collaboration, and community engagement, the initiative continues to champion a future where every child can enjoy a safe, healthy, and fulfilling childhood.

#batangmalaya project

As part of the SIDLIT Transition Projects, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban prepared and distributed Malaya Kits to support children vulnerable to child labor through its #BatangMalaya campaign. Filled with essential personal hygiene items, the kits promote health, dignity, and well-being while reinforcing every child's right to a safe and nurturing childhood.

This initiative was made possible through the generous support of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Unit 8, whose donation of hygiene products strengthened our shared commitment to child protection. Together, we continue to empower children with the care, resources, and opportunities they deserve, helping build communities where every child can grow, learn, and thrive.

Project Bulig: Ride for a Cause

Through its flagship disaster response initiative, Project Bulig, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban partnered with the Riders Emergency Response and various rider organizations to organize Ride for a Cause, a humanitarian outreach for the families affected by the devastating fire in Barangay 42, Quarry, Tacloban City.

United by the spirit of bayanihan, volunteers collected and distributed clothing, food, toys, hygiene supplies, and other essential items to 88 affected families. More than delivering relief goods, the initiative demonstrated the power of collaboration in bringing hope, comfort, and immediate assistance to communities recovering from disaster. Together, we continue to stand with those in need and reaffirm our commitment to serving with compassion, solidarity, and action.

Charter Anniversary Mangrove Planting

In celebration of its Charter Anniversary, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship through a mangrove planting activity at Paraiso Mangrove Eco Park, San Jose, Tacloban City. In partnership with DENR Sta. Rita, Rotaractors planted 30 mangrove seedlings, contributing to the restoration of coastal ecosystems and the protection of marine biodiversity.

More than commemorating another year of service, the initiative reflects the club's dedication to climate action and sustainable environmental conservation. Every mangrove planted strengthens our coastlines, supports biodiversity, and represents our shared commitment to creating a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.

Community Outreach: WASH, Feeding, and Mobile Learning

The Rotaract Club of Tacloban remains committed to uplifting underserved communities through integrated outreach programs that address both immediate needs and long-term development. Through a community outreach in San Jose, Palo, Leyte, the club conducted a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Seminar, feeding program, food pack distribution, and a Mobile School and Art Session for children.

By combining health education, nutrition, and creative learning, the initiative provided families and children with essential support while fostering hope, learning, and community resilience. Guided by the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self, the project reflects the club's mission to connect, inspire, and empower communities—one act of service at a time.

Bakunang Handog para sa mga Guro

Bakunang Handog para sa mga Guro is a preventive healthcare initiative of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban and the Rotary Club of Tacloban, dedicated to protecting educators through accessible immunization programs. Recognizing the vital role teachers play in shaping future generations, the project promotes vaccination as an important step in safeguarding both educators and the students they serve.

Conducted at San Fernando Central School, the free pneumococcal vaccination program provided teachers with added protection against vaccine-preventable diseases, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare within the education sector. Through initiatives like this, Rotary and Rotaract continue to support healthier schools and stronger communities by investing in the well-being of those who inspire and educate our youth.

International Coastal Cleanup and Tree Planting

In observance of International Coastal Cleanup Day, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban joined fellow Rotary clubs in a coastal cleanup and tree planting activity, reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and Rotary's Area of Focus on Protecting the Environment.

Through collective action, volunteers helped restore coastal areas, reduce environmental waste, and plant trees that contribute to healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities. Guided by the spirit of Rotary Bayanihan, the initiative reminds us that protecting the environment begins with small, consistent actions that create lasting impact for future generations.

Sensory Integration and Autism Awareness Seminar

The Rotaract Club of Tacloban, in partnership with J.E.S.U.S. Kids Therapy Center, the Rotary Club of Kandaya, and the Rotary Club of Tacloban, supported a Sensory Integration and Autism Awareness Seminar to promote greater understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum.

By raising awareness on autism, sensory integration, and early intervention, the initiative empowered parents, educators, healthcare professionals, and community members with valuable knowledge to better support children with autism. Through education and advocacy, we continue to foster more inclusive communities where every child is understood, accepted, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Brigada Eskwela 2022

The Rotaract Club of Tacloban proudly joined DepEd's Brigada Eskwela at Camansihay Elementary School, in partnership with the Philippine National Police Mobile Company and the Rotary Club of Tacloban, to help prepare classrooms for the safe reopening of classes.

Through volunteerism and community collaboration, the initiative supported the creation of a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment for students. Guided by the spirit of bayanihan, the project reflects the club's commitment to advancing education and ensuring that every child has a better place to learn and thrive.

Through expert-led discussions and community partnerships, the project empowers individuals with practical knowledge to make informed health and nutrition choices.

Conducted in partnership with fellow Rotaract clubs and youth organizations, the webinar featured Mr. Rochelle John Tagalogon, RND, who shared valuable insights on addressing malnutrition, promoting balanced nutrition, and adopting healthier lifestyles. By educating communities and inspiring positive health practices, KNOWtrisYUN supports the club's commitment to building healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.

Project KalyEskwela: Hangyo ha Kabataan para ha Kinabuwason

Project KalyEskwela is the Rotaract Club of Tacloban's education and youth empowerment initiative, dedicated to supporting underprivileged and out-of-school children by providing essential learning resources and opportunities. Guided by the belief that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, the project helps equip young learners with the tools they need to pursue a brighter future.

Launched in partnership with JJC Waraynon, the initiative provided school supplies, educational toys, multivitamins, food packs, hygiene kits, and household essentials to 30 out-of-school and indigent children in Barangay 88, San Jose, Tacloban City. Through Project KalyEskwela, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban continues to invest in the potential of every child, creating opportunities for learning, hope, and a better tomorrow.

New Rotary Year Community Outreach

To celebrate the New Rotary Year, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban joined the Leyte and Samar Council of Rotaract Clubs in bringing joy, creativity, and care to the children of Barangay 6-A, Sto. Niño Extension, Tacloban City. Through an interactive art session and the distribution of hygiene kits, the initiative encouraged self-expression while promoting the importance of health and personal hygiene.

By celebrating alongside the community's youngest members, the project reflects Rotary's commitment to nurturing hope, empowering children, and inspiring positive change. Together, we continue to create brighter futures through service, compassion, and meaningful community engagement.
